A career devoted to industrial innovation
Arturo Casado is a management consultant specialising in industrial innovation. For more than 25 years, he has worked at the forefront of R&D&I in leading international industrial groups, combining technical expertise with strategic and business insight.
He began his career at Procter & Gamble in Brussels, where he held several R&D&I leadership roles in the Fabric & Home Care division. During this time, he helped establish the first joint research centre between Procter & Gamble and the chemical group BASF in Ludwigshafen—a landmark example of Open Innovation at the time.
He later joined the building materials group Uralita in Madrid as R&D&I Director for its Insulation Division, where he led the function for 15 years. During his final years in the role, the division became part of the ETEX Group.
Throughout his career, he has brought numerous innovative technologies and products to market while working in technically, organisationally, and regulatorily complex environments. He is the inventor of 36 international patents.
His professional experience is complemented by a strong academic and scientific background. He holds a PhD in Chemistry, has been a lecturer at the University of Valladolid and a Research Fellow at MIT, and has authored 16 scientific publications in international journals. More recently, he completed the Business Innovation Program at Deusto Business School in Bilbao.

The 5-40® Methodology arose from a fundamental question Arturo Casado has always asked myself as an R&D&I Director: “Why do so many industrial companies still innovate without a structured process when they have established processes for virtually every other business activity?”
The answer, developed through years of managing industrial innovation on the ground, is the 5-40® Methodology—a system specifically designed around the particularities and real challenges faced by industrial companies.
